My Favourite Edinburgh Wedding Venues
14 May 2024 — Guides
After photographing weddings in Edinburgh for six years, I've had the privilege of working in some extraordinary spaces. From the drama of Prestonfield to the intimacy of The Secret Herb Garden, Edinburgh offers something for every kind of love story.
Prestonfield House
Baroque, bold, and utterly theatrical. Prestonfield is for couples who want drama and warmth in equal measure. The peacock suite is a dream for getting-ready shots, and the candlelit dining rooms create an atmosphere that photographs like a painting. The light in the great hall during an afternoon ceremony is something I never tire of capturing.
The Secret Herb Garden
Tucked into the Pentland Hills, this is for the couple who wants to feel like they've stepped into a storybook. The walled garden is breathtaking for ceremonies, and the glasshouse reception space glows like a lantern at night. Spring and summer weddings here are extraordinary, but I've shot an autumn wedding that took my breath away too.
Crear, Argyll
Technically not Edinburgh, but close enough to include here because it's where many of my Edinburgh-based couples choose to celebrate. Crear sits on Scotland's west coast, with views across to the islands. It's wild, romantic, and utterly spectacular. The food is outstanding, the accommodation charming, and the light at sunset over the Atlantic is the best I've ever seen.
