Sarah and James walking through the golden grounds of Prestonfield House

A Prestonfield House Wedding in Autumn Light

18 October 2024 — Weddings

Some weddings are quiet revolutions. Sarah and James's day at Prestonfield House was one of those. No grand entrance, no choreographed first dance. Just two people deeply in love, surrounded by the people who know them best.

The Morning

Sarah got ready in the peacock suite, all deep blues and gold leaf. Her mother fastened the necklace. Her sister poured the champagne. The light through the tall windows was soft and kind, the sort of light you can't plan but always hope for.

The ceremony in the candlelit great hall

The ceremony was held in the great hall, candles flickering against dark panelled walls. James waited at the front, hands clasped, trying to hold it together. When Sarah appeared, he didn't try anymore. The room was full of quiet tears and wide smiles.

What I loved most about their day was the unhurried quality of it all. There was time for everything that mattered: long conversations, lingering at the table, a walk through the gardens as the light turned amber. They were present for every moment, and it shows in every photograph.
